Hi there! I am Larissa Bruin, a fashion blogger and stylist living in Amsterdam. I am almost on the wrong side of my twenties, but living every day like it's my last. After I chose to quit my job as a psychologist, I totally went all the way with blogging. This is now my fulltime job, which gives me the opportunity to get inspired by and inspire women all over the world daily.
I started blogging in a period in which blogging was just becoming a concept and had not yet been "qualified" as a job. When I first heard about it, I was very excited and wanted to try it out myself, for it would give me the opportunity to combine my love for fashion and writing. I have always had a huge closet and by having a blog I found a way to capture my outfits forever.
My blog is my personal style platform, but I also love to write about trends, photos that inspire me, or events that I have been attending. I also try to tell my readers a bit more about my self and the places I like to travel to.
Sometimes I think that fashion is my drug; a fashion show, for example, can be so wonderful that it seems to take me on a journal, good or bad, realistic or fairylike. At the same time, fashion is a way to express yourself and tell people who you are.
I think my style is a mixture between romantic and rebellious. I love to match feminine chique items to tougher items to create a look that stands for my versatility.
I think it already started when I was a little girl. Inspired by adventures with my brother, I was kind of a tomboy back when I was 6, and I had outspoken thoughts of what I did and did not want to wear. Later, I got inspired by my sister and started to dress more lady like. It was both my mom and sis who encouraged me to do something with my love for fashion, but it wasn't until I heard of blogging that I had found the exact thing I wanted to do with it, which is styling and writing about my thoughts on fashion.
I love the Vondelpark during the summer. "Negen straatjes" (translated: Nine little streets) are a great fashion district where you'll find the cutest boutiques and vintage stores. I also like to take the ferry to go to Amsterdam North for a photoshoot around the IJ (the harbor), a chit chat at Pllek, which is a lovely hotspot or a visit to the Filmmuseum.
Changeable, enriching, storytelling.
Together with two other fashion bloggers, I am now working on a project with Vero Moda, for which we will be flying off to Denmark several times in the next months to work on styling assignments, photoshoots and events. I will also be focusing on some travel and hotel reviews in other places, which is a dream coming true since I have always wanted to travel for work; see the world and share my findings.
Don't be afraid to be yourself, your uniqueness is what inspires others, not your similarities.
