Filippo Interview

DW_What's your name? How old are you and where do you live?
My name is Filippo, I'm a 24 for year old from Milan.

DW_When did you started blogging?
I opened my blog about one year and a half ago, precisely in march 2010.

DW_How did you come up with the idea?
I've always had the passion for fashion since a was very very young. Then about two years ago the phenomenon of blogger started to increase even in Italy pushing me to open my own personal space in the immense world of Internet.

DW_It's rare to see a men's fashion blogger , according to you, why they are not many?
I think that the lack of men's fashion blogs is because of two main reasons: first because men are not interested in fashion as women do and second because it's difficult for a man being well dressed and also original and trendy at the same time. Men are scared to dare in fashion. ;)

DW_Is your style personal or is it inspired by what is already out there?
It's strictly personal. I don't follow a lot of fashion bloggers and I don't read so many fashion magazines. I think they are too my influenced by advertsing.

DW_Where do you get your ideas from?
I love looking at people surrounding me. I take them as precious examples to reinterprate according to my personal point of view.

DW_What is your greatest inspiration?
I'm graduating in December. I'm studying to become an architect. So there is gonna be like a giant fork in front of me. One path is connected to the world of architecture and design and the other one is linked to my blog ( that I already consider like a job) and the world of fashion. I'm very scared of this decision that I have to take soon.

DW According to you, what is the most significant period for men's fashion?
I think the '60s can be considered a turning point in men's fashion. These are the years of new ways of elegance.

DW_What is fashion for you?
I think that you are fashion only when you feel comfortable with yourself. It doesn't matter what you are wearing, you just have to feel well.

DW_If we say "coco chanel" what do you tell us?
I think she's been a great and emblematic figure in the world of fashion, she has create a new style, the so called "Chanel style". But let me also say that I think that the myth of Coco is too much abused  right now. Everyone talk about Chanel even without knowing anything about her figure.

DW_What do you think about the influence of fashion bloggers in the fashion world?
Some bloggers are getting super powerful in the world of fashion giving them also the possibility to launch new trends. I think that think kind of democracy is very good but we really need to select which blogs are good and which are not.

DW_Do you believe that one day they'll replace the fashion magazines or do you think it's just ephemeral?
I don't think that blogs are going to replace magazines but I think that blogs are leading the papers to a positive evolution to the new technologies. Magazines and blogs are not in contrast but complementary because magazines generally deal with  a little niche of the fashion world, on the other hand blog show what people wear in the every day life.

DW_Lot of people create a fashion blog today, what do you think about that?
I don't like when things become too massive and when people think that opening a blog is such an easy thing. It's important what you can transmit with this precious tool.

DW_According to you, what makes a blog successful?
Only if you really believe in what you are doing and if you use all your strength and passion a blog can turn into a successful tool.

DW_If you had to choose only one pair of shoes, what would it be?
A pair or English made shoes such a church's shoe or a John Lobb.

DW_What magazine are you reading?
I usually read l'uomo Vogue and Esquire magazine.

DW_Who would qualify to be an icon?
Having a strong passion, not caring about other people judgment are the keys to become a super cool icon. :)

DW_Your ideal female or male would have what style? what would he/she be wearing?
A love super sophisticated looks. I get crazy when I see people wearing tailor made items. I love quality above all. I prefer men wearing tailor made jackets and woman in short dresses and high heels.

DW_Websites? blogs? other links?
I love Alix from thecherryblossomgirl.com. She is my favorite blogger above all. So chic and unique. Every time I visit her blog it's an amazing experience.

DW_One last/final word?
Every time I think about my blog, my mind goes to the thousand of people that follow me every day, pushing me to go on. Thank you so much!
