Kathleen Murillo, 21, Berkeley, California.
I started about 1 year and a half ago in Summer of 2010.
Inspirafashion is about mixing both inspiration and fashion together. I thought the idea was perfect to express both important aspects of fashion into one place people can visit and find my personal style along with what inspires me.
It means to bring together creativity and art through styling, photographing, or designing clothes. It's a way to also build confidence and poise. It's a passion.
I believe every era is great and unique in their own way, but depends on preference. I truly admire the 1940's fashion and how carefree and free flowing every clothing item is.
The people who are inspired by it and as a result end up creating out of what seems ordinary at first, something brilliant and beautiful. For example, the amazing designer Alexander McQueen -- his out of this world designs came from being inspired by others or things around him. This type of growth and process is what interests me about fashion.
I go on fashion blogs all the time and especially just street style is inspiring. Recently, I found the site Pinterest to be a great place to generate ideas by pinning pictures from all over the web.
Anyone who is genuine, passionate, an driven about what they're happy doing or wanting to pursue.
They'd have a classic effortless style. I really admire looks that look thrown together last minute but end up looking perfect. He or she would be wearing maybe a striped long sleeve top with a belt and cool vintage worn out jeans and loafers.
Dress not to impress, dress for yourself. Walk out of the house with confidence about what you're wearing.
I love wearing bracelets and stacking them all together. They turn out to be a great piece of art on your arm. ;)
I adore Helmut Lang, his designs are very simple and minimalistic and pays attention to shapes and form rather than color. I think it's interesting also the type of fabrics he uses, mesh or jersey.
Refinery 29, Whowhatwear, just a few sites I get my inspiration from. Pinterest is definitely up there now too. Blogs, I have too many to name, but to name a few of my favorites: Sincerely Jules, Song of Style, This Time Tomorrow, Columbine and Gary Pepper Vintage. Chictopia.com is an amazing social media networking site for fashion, great way to connect with other bloggers and where I first started! :)
Thank you very much for interviewing me! Means a lot to share my passion for fashion with everyone!
