I'm Jennifer; I'm 17 years old and from California!
I started blogging a little over a year ago, specifically September 2012.
I decided to start blogging because I wanted to get my foot into the fashion industry from as early as an age as I could, as my ultimate goal is to show a collection at NYFW and I figured any connections I could make would always be of help in the future.
It's basically a personal style blog but I occasionally showcase the designs I have constructed into garments and also share my artwork with my readers.
Anything that you put on your body to decorate it is what I consider fashion.
I definitely believe that people look to fashion bloggers for style inspiration more nowadays verses purely fashion magazines. There is a sense of unattainability in magazines (not necessarily a bad thing but it's definitely there), and seeing garments styled by an everyday person and not in an editorial, makes fashion more relatable and tangible.
I don't think that fashion magazines will ever be replaced as people enjoy being able to carry a magazine around just as online books can never replace the feeling of holding a book in your hand. Editorials may have an unattainable vibe but people also appreciate that sense of escape; the budget of magazines also allows them to produce stunning photography and sets to shoot in that is just not within the means of most fashion bloggers.
Probably my black, wide-brimmed hat from Oasap!
My outfits are very character oriented as I get my inspiration from films, fairytales, mythology, horror stories etc. and I try to embody the vibes and personalities of those characters.
I am most inspired by goddess characters. They all tend to have very romantic vibes yet also a sense of strong individualism.
Very important. Of course everyone wants to look their best in public but underneath it all, I believe that putting on a good outfit in the morning can really transform the outlook you have on your day. It gives you a sense of confidence and optimism.
Other bloggers that I look to as style icons are Bebe Zeva, Ashlei Louise, Kendall C., and Bobby Raffin.
Something as simple as playing with my dogs outside on a warm, sunny evening is enough to make me incredibly happy.
As Sherlock Holmes would put it, "Art in the blood is liable to take the strangest forms." To me, this means that everyone has art in their blood, and it doesn't always manifest itself onto a canvas-- fashion is just another way that we can outwardly express our innate creativity. And don't be afraid to experiment with fashion. It's your body, do what you want with it and not what you think other people believe you should wear.
