DW__What's your name? How old are you and where do you live?
.
My name is Gracia. I'm 23 and I have just settled down in Singapore.
DW__Where would you love to live?
I would love to be able to live in London. I fly there often to see my boyfriend and always wished I never have to leave. Either that, or in a small, cosy home in beautiful Edinburgh where I can wake up to see the grand castle every morning.
DW__When did you started blogging?
It started a few years ago, although I can't exactly remember when.
DW__How did you come up with the idea?
Like most blogs it was a vanity project, a space where I can have fun experimenting with clothes and at the same time interact with fellow fashion enthusiasts. Along the way I can use the same space to sell certain items that I need to get rid of (often unwillingly).
DW__Is your style personal or is it inspired by what is already out there?
I believe that no single idea is truly original, so yes my style is inspired by the things I see that evokes strong emotions of love and hatred, and then I gave it my own twist to suit my environments.
DW__Where do you get your ideas from?
Editorials, blogs, people, old period films (Blackadder is actually a favourite of mine), the designers themselves, even right down to the texture of leathers.
DW__What is your greatest inspiration?
I have to say it was Rick Owens. He opened my eyes to clothes that do not conform to the mainstream definition of what fashion should be. Although I don't necessarily love every collection he produces, there is always a certain je ne sais quoi that pulls me back to him. Through that admiration for his vision I began searching for other like-minded creators. Without him I wouldn't have learnt to appreciate Ann Demeulemeester, Junya Watanabe or Gareth Pugh.
DW__According to you, what is the most significant period for women's fashion?
I am no fashion historian, but I thank God for the rise of feminism in the late 19th century. It was a slow fight for women's liberation, but at the risk of simplifying history, because a group of women rebelled against the norm we now have the freedom to choose between a skirt or a suit, and get rid of the corsets altogether.
DW__What is fashion for you?
A game where everyone fights to get to the top.
DW__What magazine are you reading?
Style Zeitgeist Magazine, and Issue One.
DW__Who would qualify to be an icon?
Anyone with a fresh perspective.
DW__Your ideal female or male would have what style? what would he/she be wearing?
I wouldn't for the life of me be able to pinpoint the style he/she would be wearing. I have found myself staring at a woman in classic tailored clothes and a killer pair of Louboutins, to crazy Japenese fashion armies, to dark goth ninjas. But I suppose if you're talking about a possible mate, then a gaunt, vampiric lad in Ann Demeulemeester gets me weak on my knees.
DW__One last/final word?
.
It's better to be different than to look like a well-groomed sheep.
