Dominique Interview

DW__Who are you?
I am Dominique Nghiem! I'm a 18 years old university student majoring in Psychology and Social Behavior and I blog about my personal style through my blog Style2bones and my various other extension social media sites!

DW__When did you started blogging and How did you come up with the idea?
I started blogging when i was 15 but i did it very rarely, maybe once every month or so! As the years passed by until now, i gained my love (..and addiction) to shooting and editing and styling my outfits on Style2bones to the point that i post everyday! I never really cared about dressing myself when i was younger, i was even teased for my really bad outfits up until i gained an appreciation for fashion and style when i was 12! I was inspired to blog through my favorite fashion bloggers way back then like Fashion Toast and Sea of Shoes! Then i found lookbook and other social media sites to spread my outfits on my main blog!

DW__Could you introduce your blog?
My blog is named Style2bones! Words i'd like to describe me and my style and my readers are: "Sheep in devil's clothing"! I used to have much darker style taking inspiration from nu-goth, punk, and grunge but lately i have adopted a lot of color and patterns into my style! A lot of people think that i am very intimidating because of the way i dress but i'm honestly just very sheeplike -- cute and nice and fluffy inside of my edgy outside!

DW__What is fashion for you?
Fashion to me is something i like to keep up with, following the newest trends and seeing what everyone in the industry is hyped about! I incorporate the newest trends into my style, but i would say that i have a sense of style that adapts to the trends of the time, not one that blindly falls into the hype! I think that style is evolutionary and one eventually needs to adapt to the latest trends without selling out to them, to me that means that i pick and choose what trends i like and can see myself wearing, not wearing everything that is trending!

DW__According to you, what is the most significant period for women's fashion?
I would always say now, today, or whatever moment in time that you are reading this! I'm always about the present and future, always evolving and developing oneself but still keeping true to past influences! Just because i think now is the most significant period, that doesn't mean that i ignore the past, because i think the past eras like 70s punk and 80s grunge are the foundation to my personal style!

DW__What do you think about the influence of fashion bloggers in the fashion world?
I think fashion bloggers' influence in the fashion world has definitely increased over the years and continually increasing day by day! I believe so because many clothing companies are relying on bloggers to spread their clothing and show people how to style it! Which is a great thing because this blogging world has definitely become much more friendly and cooperative, everyone helping each other out to spread the love of fashion through a blogger's personal style!

DW__Do you believe that one day they'll replace the fashion magazine or do you think it's just ephemeral ?
Fashion magazines will never be replaced, i can't ever imagine them fading away and completely becoming non existential! I feel that way because i think that the mainstream population are reliant on a type of fast consumerism that feeds them all the latest trends and diets and exercises and dating advice and etc! But once a person wants to go beyond the mainstream, they will look to more niche areas like fashion blogs and online magazines that interest them to a more distinct less commercial style!

DW__3 Indispensable items?
Sky high platforms (6 inches is my standard), your favorite dress, and a leather jacket!

DW__Dominique, you have an incredible style, colorful, sexy and chic at the same time, Where do you get your ideas from?
I get inspiration from everywhere! I think i'm really inspired by my favorite clothing brands and lines like Unif, Jeffrey Campbell, Everland Clothing, O-mighty, Yru..the list goes on and on! I really love looking at lookbooks and seeing how they style their own clothing! I also get inspired from bloggers on Lookbook.nu and instagram! Lately all my color is inspired by my overall happy mood and my new found favorite location ever in California, Salvation Mountain!

DW__What is your greatest inspiration?
That would be a hard question for me to directly answer because i am inspired by a little bit of everything: other people, clothing, locations! They are all a big part of my inspiration and i can't just pick one!

DW__Who would qualify to be an icon?
Anyone that is true to themselves and their personal style!

DW__Your ideal female or male would have what style? what would he/she be wearing?
My ideal male actually wouldn't really care about style... i've met and seen enough guys in this industry (fashion, blogging, designing, etc..) to determine that i really don't want someone who is interested in the same things like style and fashion like me! I more so see them as friends to talk about and shoot with and just blog with! But my ideal male would preferably have a really sweet personality and have a lot of passion and love for something-- whether it be art, science, music.. whatever! I think personality is the most important thing above one's style and appearance in choosing a boyfriend or friend!

DW__If you had to choose one bag what would it be?
A see through clutch, because i am a very open person!

DW__3 words to describe fashion?
Trends, Fast, Love.

DW__Websites? blogs? other links?
My favorite sites that i love to go to all the time are (..besides clothing sites like nasty gal, dolls kill, unif, misskl, etc...) : ihateblonde, citizen5nake, bobbyraffin, lookbook.nu, instagram, and tumblr!

DW__One last/final word?
Always be true to yourself and love other people like the way you want to be loved! Thank you for interviewing me! It was a lot of fun!
