Stephanie Interview

DW__Who is Stephanie?
I'm a 21 year old blogger (obviously!), freelance writer and journalism student - needless to say I'm also very tired. I'm originally from Cornwall in the UK, but right now I'm living in London.

DW__When did you started blogging and How did you come up with the idea?
I've only actually been blogging for around a year, but I was really active/addicted to Tumblr for years. I made some great contacts through Tumblr which led me to creating my blog!

DW__Could you introduce your blog?
Cocochic is generally a site that showcases my own personal style. I tend to ramble on a lot about my day and what I'm up to - it's basically a digital diary where I express my love for shoes and my lack of sleep.

DW__What is fashion for you?
Without sounding cliche, I think fashion is what you make it. Obviously fashion is technically all about the trends and the meanings behind collections, but for me I just like to have fun with it. There's definitely a lot more to life than fashion, but let's face it, life would suck without it.

DW__Where do you get your ideas from and How do you define your style?
My posts are generally made on a whim. I'll wake up, get dressed, and if I happen to get some outfit pictures taken that day then that's what will go up. Sometimes I'll also do some collaborations with some websites which obviously dictates a few posts, but other than that most of them are just a few snaps of me in something leather and a few paragraphs of me nattering on!

DW__What do you like the most in being a fashion blogger?
It's given me the chance to do a lot of things that I wouldn't otherwise be able to do. I've been able to visit some of the craziest of places and meet some seriously inspiring people. I sometimes forget how lucky I am. I also love that (since becoming my full-time job) blogging has allowed me to spend more time doing the things I love, instead of working in a 9-5 job that I'm unhappy in. I 'm completely in control of what I do, which I think is a luxury in itself.

DW__What do you think about the influence of fashion bloggers in the fashion world?
I think the lines are blurred these days. A few years ago bloggers were considered the new tastemakers, but now, so many bloggers are working with companies and generally making a business out of themselves that it's hard to see the wood from the trees, so to speak. I think the main purpose for bloggers these days is an escape from every day life, and a constant form of outfit inspiration. It's a lot easier to get dressed in the morning when you can just copy someone's look off a website.

DW__Do you believe that one day they'll replace the fashion magazine or do you think it's just ephemeral? According to you what is the future of fashion blogs?
I think some magazines will be around forever. We're in a digital age but that doesn't mean people still don't prefer to read hard copies as opposed to pictures on the internet. For me, I know I'll always choose magazines over the digital apps because I keep them as collectors items in a sense - then again I'm also an avid Kindle-er. I'm certain some physical magazines and newspapers will die out over time, but I can't see them disappearing completely any time soon (at least I hope not, for the sake of my own magazine-addiction).

DW__Who would qualify to be an icon?
Originally I would have listed off a selection of editors, journalists and bloggers that I adored, but lately I've had some form of epiphany/I grew up, and have come to terms with the fact that generally anyone can be an icon. I'm not interested in Beyonce or Lady Gaga or Kim K (sorry!), now I just find regular, day to day people inspiring in so many different ways.

DW__What is your greatest inspiration?
I guess I answered that in the last question! In terms of more superficial things though, I've lately really gotten into architecture and property development. A new career objective maybe?

DW__3 Indispensable items?
My cats, a good leather jacket and my Macbook (for Candy Crush purposes).

DW__3 words to describe fashion?
Non-stop, crazy, addictive.

DW__Websites? blogs? other links?
Blogs that I check everyday are:

DW__One last/final word?
Don't take things too seriously!
